Lucy

Lucy is completely blind and has a chromosome 16 duplication, which is a rare condition affecting mental health with autism traits and affecting overall communication. Lucy is hypermobile and suffers with CVS. She is in remission from bi-lateral retina-blastoma and is globally developmentally delayed.

However, Lucy has an extraordinary talent and it is by using this natural talent, Lucy is able to communicate. (...)

Lucy, a menina cega e autista.

Blind girl, Lucy, with neurodiversity stuns crowd with Chopin piano performance!

‘She’s a miracle!’ Viewers break down in tears over ‘beautiful’ Chopin performance by blind girl, 13, at Leed's train station.

Viewers were left in tears after watching a blind 13-year-old girl flawlessly perform Chopin on the piano at a train station in Birmingham.

Budding pianist Lucy took to the keys on an episode of Channel 4's The Piano, a talent show hosted by Claudia Winkleman and judged by pop star Mika and concert pianist Lang Lang.

The show involves pianists performing at Birmingham New Street and London St Pancras stations in front of crowds while the judges watch in a secret room, before selecting one pianist at the end of each episode to perform on stage.

The Amber Trust - Lucy's story

This film is about teaching a blind child with severe autism and exceptional musical potential.

It features Lucy, who is 10 years old, blind, with autism and severe learning difficulties but exceptional musical potential, with her teacher Daniel, and Adam Ockelford, founder of The Amber Trust.

Lucy’s story is a part of ‘Amber Sound Touch’, The Amber Trust’s online resource for teaching music to blind and partially sighted children and young people, including those with additional disabilities.

The Amber Trust was founded in 1995 to provide blind and partially sighted children, including those with additional disabilities, the best possible chance to meet their musical needs and aspirations and fulfil their potential. Amber aims to enhance the lives of as many of the 25,000 visually impaired children in the UK as possible through music, and to promote high quality music provision.
